SIGNED by Goff. Scarce dust jacket designed by Minton present and in very good condition. 8vo. 256pp. Jacket is slightly edgeworn, with chipping to the head of the spine [please see pictures]. One can see that a sticker has been removed from the bottom right corner of the jacket’s back panel, however it has been done quite tactfully [again, please see pictures]. Some moderate tanning to back panel. Minton’s cover illustration is in sublime condition, the colours bright and vibrant. The binding is tight and square; the contents clean, bright and complete. Signed by Goff, with an inscription, on the first free front end paper. The inscription reads: “For Nigel and Eunice, as often reward fr all their unfailing interest and encouragement. [signature] April, 1957” A wonderful copy of a rare and important text, made all the more special thanks to the personal nature of Goff’s inscription. The author’s first novel, The Plaster Fabric was a milestone in the development of gay literature in the United Kingdom. In addition to his work as an author, Goff was an important bookseller and would be key in the establishment and development of the Man Booker Prize. Rare.
