Additionally, 1855’s supplement celebrating The Paris Exhibition of Industrial Arts is present and complete at the volume’s rear. Front cover has been exquisitely embossed in gold. Rear cover has the same design blind-stamped. Gilt detailing on spine has faded somewhat. Rare to find an edition with original covers, rarer still in this condition. Boards edges display some minor shelfwear and a few stains are visible on the rear cover. A few plates exhibit signs of minor water damage; please see pictures for detail. Otherwise, internally the book is in excellent condition. Bright, clean and complete. A rare, complete edition from 1855 of the first volume in the Art Journal’s “New Series”. Made rarer still by the presence of its original covers.
