8vo., in original beige wrappers with black lettering, pp. 92, , with frontispiece b/w photographic portrait of author and b/w photographic reproduction of ‘Nel Laboratorio degli Intonarumori a Milano’, originally a painting by Russolo’s assistant, Ugo Piatti. First edition. Rare. Some browning to wrappers and pages, mild foxing and wear to wrapper edges, frontispiece portrait cracking at the spine; otherwise very good and clean. Luigi Russolo (1885-1947) was an Italian composer, painter and inventor, and key member of the Italian Futurist movement in the arts. L’Arte dei rumori expounds his theory of music as a system of noises rather than harmonies. His manifesto is reprinted in the first chapter of this book and dated 11 March 1913. Text in Italian.
