Binding worn and chipped, 0.5 cm chip to top corner of spine, 0.3 cm chip to foot (no loss of text), hinges starting, 1 map splitting at crease, spine cracked and split in places, pages slightly yellowed; otherwise a fair copy, complete, the plates bright with tissue guards present.Thomas Woodbine Hinchliff (1825-1882) was an English mountaineer, traveler and author, and from 1875 to 1877 the seventh President of the Alpine Club. Summer Months Among the Alps was referred to in Mark Twain’s ‘A Tramp Abroad’ as ‘Hinchliffe’s book’. Very scarce.
