4to. viii, 191pp. Original green, cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. Housed in an illustrated jacket. Book is illustrated with 100 monochrome plates, 1 folding map showing “The Sanctuary of Demeter at Knossos”, 1 table and 44 plans. Condition of both the jacket and book are very good. The jacket’s front cover has a roughly 2cm closed tear at its top edge, and the spine is chipped at its head and tail, and also a little at its margin [please see pictures for context]. Spine is a little tanned but otherwise it is a very good jacket. Internally the book is phenomenally clean; the entirety of the text and its binding being bright and well held together. The text is well illustrated throughout. The text is divided into ten chapters, each in the form of an essay focusing on a different facet of the site; pottery, terracotta, architecture and coins to name a few. Surely the authoritative text on the subject.
