First unabridged Arabic edition of the catechism translated from the Latin version authorized by the Council of Trent and the most extensive Arabic catechism ever published, comprising 1827 pages plus preliminaries. It follows the Roman Catholic rite and was printed and published by the Propaganda Fide in Rome. It is based on the Latin text authorized by the Council of Trent under Pope Pius V, first published in Latin in 1566. With pages from right to left and Arabic title pages after latin title pages in each volume. With woodcut tail-pieces, decorated initials. In first volume – 13pp dedication to Pope Pius VI and other preliminary pages (Decretum and Adprobatio) also in Latin and Arabic. With small black library stamp to the title and last page. Front paperboard missing. Second volume with blue Propaganda Fide library stamps to t.ps. Mostly uncut. With occasional minor and mostly marginal foxing but otherwise in very good condition. One gathering in each volume loose.
