Born into a poor family in Palermo, and later adopting the name Count Alessandro of Cagliostro, Giuseppe Balsamo was an occultist and self-styled magician, a celebrity in his day who traveled across Italy, France, England and Russia. Missing portrait, some browning to pages, joints tender (though text block tight). A very good copy. Text in Italian.
