Binding bumped and front joint tender. Previous bookseller’s sticker on inner front board. Slight foxing to outer pages though the rest of the book is clean. The third and final edition of La Divina Commedia published in the seventeenth century, during which period its author fell almost into oblivion (it did not resurface until the nineteenth century). Prefaced with a short ‘Vita di Dante’ by Lodovico Dolce. Title page framed with architectural copper engraving with portrait of the poet. It has been described as the ‘most accurate’ edition of the text published in the seventeenth century (Witte, intro. to the critical edition of the text published in 1862, p. XXIII). Text in Italian.
